Privacy Policy for Bunalens Mapper

Bunalens Mapper ("the app," "we," "our") is developed to help coffee farmers and cooperative field agents in Ethiopia map farm plot boundaries and manage farm records. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and how it is protected.

Information we collect

When you create a farmer profile in the app, we collect:

• Name
• Phone number
• Date of birth
• Gender
• National ID number (optional, if provided)

When you map a farm plot, we collect:

• GPS location data used to record the boundary, area, and (where available) altitude of the plot
• Plot label/name (optional, user-provided)

How this information is used

This information is used to:

• Create and maintain a record of your farm plots for your own use within the app
• Generate area calculations and, where applicable, yield forecasts for your plots
• Enable cooperative organizations you belong to (if applicable) to view aggregated farm data for their member farmers
• Improve the accuracy and usefulness of the app over time

Where your information is stored

• Data is stored locally on your device at all times, and remains usable even without an internet connection.
• When your device has a connection, data syncs to our secure server, hosted on Railway, to enable backup, cross-device access, and reporting features.
• Data in transit is encrypted (HTTPS).

Data sharing

• We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
• Aggregated or farm-verification data may be shared with cooperatives, exporters, or financial institutions only with your explicit consent, given at the time such sharing is requested (for example, when generating a shareable farm verification report).
• We may share data with service providers who help us operate the app (for example, cloud hosting providers), under agreements that limit their use of the data to providing that service.

Your rights

You may:

• Request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data, subject to any records cooperatives or partners are legally required to retain

Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the app's services. You may request deletion at any time via the app's Settings screen ("Reset local data" clears data stored on your device; contact us to request deletion of data already synced to our servers).

Children's privacy

Bunalens Mapper is not directed at children and is not knowingly used by individuals under 18.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the app or communicated directly where possible.
